September 9th Update to Families

Dear Laity View Families,

Welcome back!  We are all very excited to welcome returning and new students to Laity View Elementary for the 2024 – 2025 school year.  My name is Mrs. Lisa Lawrance and I am thrilled to be your principal again this year.  We are excited to welcome Ms. Katherine Ross as our new vice-principal this year.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.  You can reach us at the school at 604-463-7108 or by email at lisa_lawrance@sd42.ca or katherine_ross@sd42.ca .

Thank you for following our drop off and pick up procedure in the mornings and after school.  When in the drop off/pick up lane, please remember to pull close to the yellow curb, remain in your vehicle, and keep driving your vehicle forward after the cars in front of you pull out to leave.  In addition, the BUS LANE on the south side of the island is for buses only and is not a drop off/pick up area.

Mon., Sept. 9: 8:30 am – 1:30 pm Group A (A – K) Kindergarten students attend

*Grade 1 – 7 students attend their new classrooms for 2024 – 2025!  Stay tuned for a separate parent portal message on Sunday afternoon regarding class placement.

Tues., Sept. 10: 8:30 am – 1:30 pm Group B (L – Z) Kindergarten students attend

Wed., Sept. 11: 8:30 am – 1:30 pm All Kindergarten students attend

Thurs., Sept. 12: 8:30 am – 1:30 pm All Kindergarten students attend

*Kindergarten parents will receive a portal message on Thursday evening regarding class placement.

Fri., Sept. 13: 8:30 am – 1:30 pm All Kindergarten students attend

2:20 pm PAC Fundraiser Freezie Sales outside (weather permitting)

Mon., Sept. 16: All Kindergarten students begin attending all day (8:30 am – 2:20 pm)

Welcome to the 2024/2025 school year at Laity View!  We are pleased to let you know that Grade 1 – 7 students will attend their new classes on Monday.  The process of organizing classes is a complex and lengthy responsibility that occurs over several weeks in June and continues into September.  Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance social emotional skills and relationships, as well learning styles, strengths, and needs.  A lot of thought and consideration goes into placing students in classes and students benefit from a variety of learning experiences at school.  Now that students are in their new classrooms, they will have a new assigned door for entry and exit.  Grade 6/7 students can now bring their school supplies to school.

Parent Portal Consent Forms – Please ensure that you complete the 2024/2025 SD42 Consent Forms on the portal.  There are several important permission forms to complete, such as Appropriate Use and Use of Digital Tools (technology/internet), Personal Information Consent, Outside Media Release, School Photography, Yearbook Consent, and Walking Field Trip Permission (e.g. upcoming Terry Fox Run).  Please read through each form in order to give permission or not provide permission for each child in your family at Laity View Elementary.

School Supplies (portal forms coming soon) – If your child is in Kindergarten, please pay the school supply fee of $65 on the parent portal.  If your child is in Grades 1 – 5, please pay the school supply fee of $58 on the parent portal.  Grades 1 – 5 Planners will be available soon and cost $7 (portal fee coming soon as well).
