Volunteering
Volunteers are an important part of our schools. You can use your skills, ideas and knowledge to support student success in many ways. Volunteer involvement is guided by board Policy 10310 – Volunteers and Procedure 10310.10 – Volunteers. Curricular and extra-curricular transportation of students by volunteer drivers is guided by board Procedure 103410.10.

Additional documents required for volunteer drivers:
– Driver’s Abstract (driving record)
– Criminal Record Check
How to Obtain Driver’s Abstract (driving record)
Get your Drivers License and:
- Go to the ICBC website, log in using your BC Services Card Account.
- Call the ICBC customer service department at 604-982-2250 and ask them to email it to you.
- Go to any ICBC driver licensing centre where they will print it for you.
How to Obtain Criminal Record Check
Go to the RCMP detachment in your city of residence along with:
- volunteer letter provided by classroom teacher or Laity View office
- 2 pieces of government issued ID with photo and address
Once there, you will also need to complete the Police Information Check Application that they provide you.
Once you have completed the above, email all documents in one email to your child’s classroom teacher:
– Insurance showing at least $1,000,000 liability
– Drivers License
– Volunteer Drivers Application (valid for 1 year)
– Drivers Abstract (valid for 2 years unless license expires)
– Criminal Record Check (valid For 5 years)
– Volunteer Application & Consent Form (valid for entire time child is at this school)
