Dear Laity View Families,
This week, schools are participating in Orange Shirt Week to honour the children who never returned home and the survivors of the residential school system in Canada. Therefore, we encourage all students and staff to wear orange this week, especially on Friday for our assembly. A reminder that next Monday is a statutory holiday and next Tuesday is a non-instructional day, so there is no school for students. Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week.
Sept. 25 – 29: Orange Shirt Week – We invite everyone to wear orange this week!
Mon., Sept. 25: 7:00 pm PAC Meeting in the Library
Fri., Sept. 29: 9:00 am National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Assembly (Gym)
12:20 pm PAC Hot Lunch – pizza
Mon., Oct. 2: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – NO SCHOOL
Tues., Oct. 3: District School Growth Planning Day – NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS
Oct. 4 – 6: Toonies for Terry – please bring in a toonie for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Bicycles and Scooters: Students must lock up their bicycles and scooters in the bicycle racks along the west side of the school. The twisty locks work well for scooters. Unfortunately, students cannot store bicycles/scooters inside the school/classrooms because this creates a safety hazard for all staff and students. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Photo Expression Orders: Photo orders placed by October 11th will be delivered to the school with no shipping charge. Orders placed after October 11th will be delivered with the retake photo orders, also with no shipping charge. Photo retakes are scheduled for October 16th. After the last orders are delivered to our school, then any further photo orders are subject to shipping charges and are delivered to parents’ homes.
Drop Off/Pick Up Reminders: When in the drop off/pick up lane, please remember to pull close to the yellow curb, remain in your vehicle, and keep moving your vehicle forward as the cars in front of you pull out to leave. In addition, the new bus lane on the south side of the island is for buses only and is not a drop off/pick up area, so please only drive through the bus lane if absolutely necessary.
Student Verification Forms: Please check, sign, and date these important forms and have your childreturn the form to their teacher. It is imperative the school receives this form back for every student assoon as possible.
Parent Portal Consent Forms: Please ensure that you have completed the 2023/2024 SD42 Consent Forms on the portal. For example, we need the Walking Field Trip Permission form completed for our upcoming Terry Fox Run.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lawrance
