September 16th Update to Families

Dear Laity View Families,

We made it through the first week in our new classes!  This week is typically a chance for students to meet each other and become familiar with everyone in their class.  Many thanks to the PAC for organizing the freezie sales last Friday.  It is greatly appreciated!  Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week.

Sept. 16 – 20:  Toonies for Terry – please bring in a toonie for the Terry Fox Foundation as a donation towards cancer research.  If you are able to donate more, please follow the link on the school fundraising page at https://schools.terryfox.ca/LaityViewElementary .

Mon., Sept. 16: All Kindergarten students begin attending all day (8:30 am – 2:20 pm)

Wed., Sept. 18: 6:30 pm Quebec Exchange Parent Information Meeting (Library)

Fri., Sept. 20: Terry Fox Run

Mon., Sept. 23: 7:00 pm PAC Meeting (Library)

Wed., Sept. 25: Individual Student Photo Day

Student Verification Forms:  It is essential that we have accurate contact information on file at all times.  Please double check your information and have your child return the form to their teacher by this Friday.  It is imperative the school receives this form back for every student as soon as possible.  Thankyou in advance for your cooperation.

Drop Off/Pick Up Reminders:  When in the drop off/pick up lane, please remember to pull close to the yellow curb, remain in your vehicle, and keep driving your vehicle forward after the cars in front of you pull out to leave.  In addition, the BUS LANE on the south side of the island is for buses only and is not a drop off/pick up area.

Parent Portal Consent Forms – Please ensure that you complete the 2024/2025 SD42 Consent Forms on the portal.  There are several important permission forms to complete, such as Appropriate Use and Use of Digital Tools (technology/internet), Personal Information Consent, Outside Media Release, School Photography, Yearbook Consent, and Walking Field Trip Permission (e.g. upcoming Terry Fox Run).  Please read through each form in order to give permission or not provide permission for each child in your family at Laity View Elementary.

School Supplies – If your child is in Kindergarten, please pay the school supply fee of $65 on the parent portal.  If your child is in Grades 1 – 5, please pay the school supply fee of $58 on the parent portal.  Grades 1 – 5 Planners will be available soon and cost $7 (portal fee coming soon as well).

Parent Portal Emails:  Please be sure to check the portal periodically in case you’ve missed any school emails.  Sometimes, parents unsubscribe from the portal email list without knowing it, so looking back at the portal occasionally is important.
