November 6th Update to Families

Dear Laity View Families,

November is upon us!  This week we will be honouring Remembrance Day with an assembly on Nov. 9^th; parents are welcome to join us in the gym.  It is a short week with a professional development day on Nov. 10^thand then Remembrance Day holiday on Nov. 13^th.  Daylight savings time occurred on the weekend, so remember to turn your clocks back one hour.  Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week.

Sun., Nov. 5:  Daylight Savings Time (clocks fall back one hour)

Tues., Nov. 7:  Fruit and Vegetable Delivery – apples

            Growing Smiles Holiday Plants PAC Fundraiser Orders DUE – online

Thurs., Nov. 9:  10:45 am Remembrance Day Assembly (Gym)

            Deadline to order for Nov. 17^th Pizza Hot Lunch

Fri., Nov. 10:  School Based Non-Instructional Day – no school for students

Mon., Nov. 13:  Remembrance Day Holiday – No School

BC Fruit and Vegetable Program:  Laity View Elementary is fortunate to once again participate in the BC Agriculture Classroom’s Fruit and Vegetable Program.  This means that approximately once a month (sometimes twice), a fresh fruit or vegetable is delivered to your child’s classroom for each student to sample.  The purpose is to encourage students to try new fruits and vegetables, and to increase consumption of fresh produce.  If you would like your child to participate, you don’t need to do anything!  If you do NOT want your child to participate, please email your child’s teacher who will relay the message to the Office.

Three Way Reporting Conferences, Dec. 7 (early dismissal at 11:30am) and Dec. 8 – Our teachers will soon put out a sign up for term 1 conferences on the parent portal.  You have the option to conference in person or online.  Please be sure to sign up for your desired allotted time of either online or in person conferences.  This is an important time where your child will be showing their learning for the term and setting goals for term 2.  As such, please try to find alternated arrangements for your other children.
