May 26th Update to Families

Dear Laity View Families,

Where did May go?  We have been very busy this month.  Our students and staff have been hard at work with their lessons.  They’ve also been having a lot of fun with activities and field trips throughout the month.  Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week.   ​

     7:00 pm PAC Meeting – AGM (Library)

Tues., May 27:  Div. 1, 3, and 14 HUB Cycling Program (need bicycles)

Wed., May 28:  PAC Fundraiser Neufeld Farms Orders DUE

Fri., May 30:  Spirit Day – Team Colours Day!

     Div. 2, 13, and 15 HUB Cycling Program (need bicycles)

     12:25 Treat Day – TCBY (pre-order required)

     Parent input regarding student placement for 2025/26 DUE

Parent Input Regarding Student Placement for 2025-2026 – We are beginning to create our classes for next year.  Please be assured that staff devote considerable time, care and attention to this process.  This very complex and lengthy responsibility occurs over several weeks and continues into September when class placements are finalized.

Throughout the year, there have been many opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss each child.  Staff work together to consider the following criteria very carefully: social emotional skills and relationships, as well as learning styles, strengths, and needs.  Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance these factors, as equitably as possible.

If you feel there is further information to consider about your child, you may submit input to the principal or vice-principal (and/or your child’s classroom teacher) in writing using this FORM or by sending an email to lisa_lawrance@sd42.ca or katherine_ross@sd42.ca by May 30^th. Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name.  As class placement at Laity View is a collaborative process, parent input forms are shared with all teachers for discussion.
