Students will get a permission form by attending practice and will need a form to compete on race day. Parents are responsible for getting their child(ren) to and from the district race. Any questions, please email Carissa_Keenan@sd42.ca. Thank you, and we look forward to our primary cross country event!
INTERMEDIATE Cross Country Training – Intermediate Cross Country practices are on Mondays and Wednesdays at the 10:20 recess with Mme Edwards and M. Tremblay. Please meet at the Volker Park entrance. All intermediate students are welcome! The district race takes place on Tuesday, May 28th at Alouette Lake Beach area. Parents are responsible for getting their child(ren) to and from the district race. Students can pick up a permission form from M. Tremblay.
Early Dismissal Requests – We understand that sometimes parents need to pick up their children early from school. In order to facilitate this request, please notify the school via the parent portal/email of any early dismissals, not just by emailing your child’s teacher. Our office reception email is checked all day long and is the best way to communicate such information since classroom teachers are not easily able to check their email throughout the school day. Your assistance is greatly appreciated and will benefit everyone.
Parent Input Regarding Student Placement for 2024-2025: We are beginning to create our classes for next year. Please be assured that staff devote considerable time, care and attention to this process. This very complex and lengthy responsibility occurs over several weeks and continues into September when class placements are finalized. Throughout the year, there have been many opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss each child. Staff work together to consider the following criteria very carefully: social emotional skills and relationships, as well as learning styles, strengths, and needs. Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance these factors, as equitably as possible. If you feel there is further information to consider about your child, you may submit input to the principal or vice-principal (and/or your child’s classroom teacher) in writing using this FORM or by sending an email to lisa_lawrance@sd42.ca or suzanne_collette@sd42.ca by May 24th. Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name. As class placement at Laity View is a collaborative process, parent input forms are shared with all teachers for discussion.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lawrance
