Dear Laity View Families,
Congratulations to our Boys Basketball team for placing 5th in our east zone league. Congratulations to our Girls Basketball team for making it to the district playoffs! They play a semi-final game after school on Tuesday at Meadowridge. Depending on their Tuesday game results, their finals are on Thursday at Pitt Meadows Secondary. Student sessions are taking place this week. For more information about the student sessions, please check the Elementary School Program details on the Choices for Sexual Health website.
Three Way Reporting Conferences, Thurs. Mar. 14 (early dismissal at 11:30am) and Fri. Mar. 15 – A reminder our reporting conferences are this week, as such we dismiss early on Thursday and there is no school on Friday. This is an important time where your child will be showing their learning for the term and setting goals for term 3. As such, please try to find alternate arrangements for your other children.
Hallway Museum: The staff and students at Laity View have created a Hallway Museum. Each class represented their learning in a different way on their hallway bulletin board. This aligns with our school growth plan goals of learning and teaching about Social Emotional Learning and First Peoples Principles of Learning. We invite you to visit Laity View, walk our two hallways, and enjoy the various displays throughout the school.
Lost and Found – Our Lost and Found is still overflowing, so we are leaving out the display for another week. The items are on display in the front entrance. Please encourage your children to take a look for items that may belong to them. We plan to pack up everything on Friday to donate to charity.
Student Learning Surveys – If you have a student in Grade 4 or 7, parents are invited to complete a Student Learning Survey. This year, parents do not need a logon code to access the online Student Learning Survey. Electronic surveying is available until May 3rd. The website to access the electronic survey is: http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/sat_survey/access.htm. We invite you to take 15 minutes of your time to fill this out. The more parents who complete these surveys, the higher quality of feedback we will receive. Your input is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lawrance
