June 23rd Update to Families

Dear Laity View Families,

The year has certainly flown by, and summer is now upon us – especially with the long-awaited sunshine!  We would like to thank all of the students, parents, teachers, and school staff for an excellent school year at Laity View Elementary!  On behalf of all the staff at Laity View, we wish you a safe, happy, and relaxing summer!  Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week. 

Mon. June 23:  1:45 pm Set-up and Decorating for Gr. 7 Leaving Ceremony

Tues., June 24:  10:35 am Grade 7 Leaving Ceremony (Gym) – doors open at 10:00 am

Wed., June 25:  9:00 am Year End Assembly (Gym)

     Last day of School for Students – 12:00 noon Dismissal

     12:00 Ridge FYRST Free Freezies – station located outside on the field

     Report Cards available on MyClass

     Lost & Found items packed up and DONATED to charity

Thurs., June 26:  Schools Close for Summer Vacation

Fri., June 27:  8:30 am – 2:30 pm Office Hours (closed for lunch 12:00 – 12:30 pm)

Mon., June 30:  8:30 am – 2:30 pm Office Hours (closed for lunch 12:00 – 12:30 pm)

Tues., July 1:  Canada Day Statutory Holiday – Office Closed

Wed., July 2:  8:30 am – 2:30 pm Office Hours (closed for lunch 12:00 – 12:30 pm)

July 2 – 18:  SD42 French Immersion Summer Learning at Laity View

Thurs., July 3:  Administrators’ Digital Threat Assessment Training – Office Closed

Fri., July 4:  12:30 – 2:30 pm Office Hours

July 7 – August 22:  Summer Vacation – Office Closed

Mon., Aug. 25 – 29:  Office open for business regular hours (except Friday)

Tues., Sept. 2:  12:30 pm School re-opens for students – late start

• First day back for students going into Grades 1 through 7 for the 2025-2026 school year
• Students return to their previous year’s class
• Dismissal is at 2:20 pm
• New Kindergarten students will receive a letter of instruction via the parent portal regarding their first day of school.

Staff Farewells – We wish to express our sincere thanks to the following staff members who have served Laity View so well.  We will miss you.  Good luck in your future endeavours.

Ridge FYRST (Family and Youth Resource Support Team) – Ridge FYRST is visiting Laity View on the last day of school at dismissal to hand out free freezies and provide some music and fun to kick off the summer.  There will be approximately 4 – 5 staff from the team to meet and greet the students including at least one uniformed police officer and a few volunteers from the Crime Prevention Unit, and maybe even Safety Bear! 

Lost and Found – Our Lost and Found is overflowing.  All items are displayed in the front entrance of the school.  Please encourage your children to take a look for items that may belong to them.  We plan to pack up everything at the end of the day on Wednesday to donate to charity.

MyClass – All elementary June report cards for the 2024/25 school year will be published to MyClass instead of the Parent Portal.  You will need a MyClass account to access your child’s report card.  Please refer to this BROCHURE which is available on the district website for information about navigating the MyClass site.
