January 13th Update to Families

Dear Laity View Families,

Wow!  Last week was a very full and exciting first week back.  Our teachers are busy planning upcoming field trips and presenters.  Be sure to check your emails regularly if you can help volunteering in any capacity.  Thank you to the PAC for organizing and implementing our first successful children’s clothing swap on Sunday.  What a wonderful way to support our families while keeping clothing out of the landfill!  Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week. 

Jan. 14 – Mar. 14:  Grade 5 Middle Years Development Instrument Timeframe

Wed., Jan. 15:  Black Excellence Day – we invite everyone to wear black!    

January 15 – 20:  Kindergarten Choice Registration (French Immersion, Montessori)

Fri., Jan. 17:  12:25 pm PAC Hot Lunch – Subway (pre-order required)

Black Excellence Day – Wed., Jan. 15 – As a lead up to Black History Month, Black Excellence Day is a day to rejoice Black history and learn about Black stories, Black art and Black people, and a day to stand in unity by wearing black.  This Wednesday is Black Excellence Day, and we invite you and our students to participate by wearing black on that day.

Primary Science Fair – Parents are invited to attend our Primary Science Fair Open House and visit classes on Thursday, January 30^th from 1:30 – 2:00 p.m.  Please note that students must remain in their class with their projects during this time.  Students will not be allowed to visit other classes with their parents.  We hope to see you there!

Inclement Weather Procedures – The decision to close schools due to weather conditions is ultimately the responsibility of the Superintendent, who must balance the safety of students, staff, and parents with the need to provide learning.  The decision is not taken lightly and is the result of a carefully thought-out process that is reviewed after each experience and refined if necessary.  The decision to close schools is made by approximately 6:30 a.m.  Details are:
