In February we continue to honour Black History Month by teaching about Black stories, Black art, and Black people as well as equality, empathy, and anti-racism. We are also focusing on kindness. This Wednesday for Pink Shirt Day, we invite everyone to wear pink shirts/kindness counts shirts and focus on how we can be more positive and kinder to each other. Grade 8 Registration – All Grade 8 registration for the 2024-25 school year will be done online through the Parent Portal. The Grade 8 Transfer Period will open at 12:00 noon February 13th. Deadline for completing a request for the Grade 8 Transfer Period is February 27th. Families with children currently enrolled in a Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows School District elementary school should submit an Existing Student Transfer Request in the Grade 8 Transfer Period. Read the Grade 8 Transfer Period Information 2024/25 tab on the school district website for more details.
Body Science Parent Information Presentation – Each year, throughout BC, students in elementary grades receive instruction in sexual health education. Instruction is mandated for all BC students by the Ministry of Education and it is included in the Physical and Health Education program. On occasion, some schools bring in experts in the field to address the topic with the school community. We are pleased to inform you that this year, the PAC has sponsored Corinne Underwood of Choices for Sexual Health to visit the school to work with parents and students in Kindergarten to Grade 7. Please join us for an informative Presentation for Parents on March 4, from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm in the library. More information to follow.
Three Way Reporting Conferences, Thurs. Mar. 14 (early dismissal at 11:30am) and Fri. Mar. 15 – Our teachers have put out a sign up for term 2 conferences on the parent portal. Please be sure to sign up for your desired allotted time of either online or in person conferences. This is an important time where your child will be showing their learning for the term and setting goals for term 3. As such, please try to find alternate arrangements for your other children.
