Dear Laity View Families,
Love is in the air this week as we see Valentine’s Day upon us. If you are planning to bring a treat to your child’s class, please check with the teacher to be sure that it is appropriate with dietary restrictions for some students. A reminder there is no school for students next Monday and Tuesday, February 19th and 20th. Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week.
February 13 – 27: Grade 8 Transfer Period/Registration

Grade 8 Registration – All Grade 8 registration for the 2024-25 school year will be done online through the Parent Portal. The Grade 8 Transfer Period will open at 12:00 noon February 13th. Deadline for completing a request for the Grade 8 Transfer Period is February 24th. Families with children currently enrolled in a Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows School District elementary school should submit an Existing Student Transfer Request in the Grade 8 Transfer Period. Read the Grade 8 Transfer Period Information 2024/25 tab on the school district website for more details.
Visitors – All visitors are expected to report to the office by way of the main entrance. This is a safety measure as it is important for us to know who is in the school. Visitors are also expected to sign the Visitor Log in the office and collect a ‘Visitor’ or ‘Volunteer’ identification tag, which must be displayed while in the building and while on the school grounds outside.
Dogs on School Grounds – Please remember to keep your dogs on a leash at all times while on the school grounds. Most important, please remember to pick up after your dog. Sometimes we are left with quite amess on our field. Some adults and children are either allergic to dogs or uncomfortable when dogs are present. Let’s work together to ensure the safety and comfort of all the adults and children on our school grounds throughout the day, especially before and after school. Your cooperation is very much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lawrance
Community News
Canadian Parents for French – Ridge Meadows Chapter: Canadian Parents for French (CPF) is urgently looking for volunteers to reignite and represent our Ridge Meadows chapter. A local chapter allows our community to access funding to create extra-curricular activities which enhance a child’s learning of the French language. CPF is a group of volunteers dedicated to the creation and promotion of French second-language learning opportunities for young Canadians. CPF Ridge Meadows is like a PAC for the schools with French Immersion streams in our district, and we support Core French learning as well. If you are interested in supporting and staying connected to your children in their French second language journey, accessing the benefits of the nation-wide CPF organization, and finding more about what we do, please attend a virtual introduction to CPF on Monday Feb. 26 at 7pm. Please RSVP to KarYan.ng@cpf.bc.ca to receive the zoom link.
