Many thanks to the PAC for funding rollerblading in the gym last week. It was such a great experience for our students. Mon., Jan. 8, 2024: Welcome back! School reopens after Christmas Break
January 9 – 13: Kindergarten Sibling Registration (for general and choice programs) – Any child who turns 5 years old in 2024 (born in 2019) with a sibling at Laity View Elementary is eligible to register for the 2024/25 school year.
January 10 – 12: Kindergarten Environmental School Registration
January 17 – 22: Kindergarten Choice Registration (French Immersion, Montessori)
Charitable Donations – School District 42 is a registered charitable organization and provides the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows with an opportunity to fund local school priorities. It is structured to support both district-wide and school-based fundraising efforts. Donations of $25 or more received from individuals or organizations other than charitable organizations are eligible to receive an official donation receipt for income tax purposes. As a registered charitable organization, the school district can accept donations towards specific programs and projects; the district cannot accept donations that are directed to specific individuals. Parent Talk: Keeping Kids Cybersafe on Monday, January 29th – Navigating the online world and keeping your children safe can feel like an overwhelming task. This session will discuss the trends and provide an overview of current online exploitation while providing parents with practical and realistic effective strategies and approaches to keeping their kids safe online. Interactive games and activities involved! Doors open at 6:30pm at Thomas Haney Secondary School Rotunda. The session starts at 7:00pm.
Inclement Weather Procedures – The decision to close schools due to weather conditions is ultimately the responsibility of the Superintendent, who must balance the safety of students, staff, and parents with the need to provide learning. The decision is not taken lightly and is the result of a carefully thought-out process that is reviewed after each experience and refined if necessary. The decision to close schools is made by approximately 6:30 a.m. Details are:
