Students will get a permission form by attending practice and will need a form to compete on race day. Any questions, please email Carissa_Keenan@sd42.ca. Thank you, and we look forward to our primary cross country event!
Student Learning Surveys – If you have a student in Grade 4 or 7, parents are invited to complete a Student Learning Survey. This year, parents do not need a logon code to access the online Student Learning Survey. Electronic surveying is available until May 3rd. The website to access the electronic survey is: http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/sat_survey/access.htm. We invite you to take 15 minutes of your time to fill this out. The more parents who complete these surveys, the higher quality of feedback we will receive. Your input is appreciated.
Registration for Summer Learning, Apr. 18 to May 9 – Parents can register for English or French elementary summer learning and/or secondary summer learning through the parent portal between noon April 18th and 3pm on May 9th. Accompanying the elementary summer learning, which is being hosted at Laity View Elementary, there are Afternoon Multi-Sport Camps from 12:20 – 2:20 pm. These registered camps offer drills, games, and activities to develop teamwork and sport skills at all levels. For more information about summer learning, please review the flyer at https://www.sd42.ca/assets/media/SD42-Summer-Learning-2024.pdf. For more information about the afternoon sport camps and registration, please review the flyer at https://www.sd42.ca/assets/media/SD42-Afternoon-Multi-sport-Camp-2024.pdf.
Parent Input Regarding Student Placement for 2024-2025: We are beginning to create our classes for next year. Please be assured that staff devote considerable time, care and attention to this process. This very complex and lengthy responsibility occurs over several weeks and continues into September when class placements are finalized.
Throughout the year, there have been many opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss each child. Staff work together to consider the following criteria very carefully: social emotional skills and relationships, as well as learning styles, strengths, and needs. Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance these factors, as equitably as possible.
If you feel there is further information to consider about your child, you may submit input to the principal or vice-principal (and/or your child’s classroom teacher) in writing using this FORM or by sending an email to lisa_lawrance@sd42.ca or suzanne_collette@sd42.ca by May 24th. Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name. As class placement at Laity View is a collaborative process, parent input forms are shared with all teachers for discussion.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lawrance
