January 31 is “ Plaid Day” at school. Everyone is invited to wear something plaid and join in our theme day. Plaid comes in a variety of forms: shirts, pants, jackets, hats, p.j.s, pretty much anything.
Plaid originated in Scotland, and is a pattern consisting of crisscrossed horizontal and vertical bands of multiple colours referred to as a tartan. “Plaid” is derived from a Scottish Gaelic word that originally referred to a specific garment: a blanket or cape that would be worn over the shoulders.
