Cops for Cancer made a stop at Albion
On Wednesday Albion was honoured to have the Tour de Coast- Cops for Cancer bike team make a quick stop at the school. All funds for this cause go directly to children who are battling cancer. If you have not had a chance to send in a small donation please know that you still can as donations will be accepted up until next Friday.
Playground is finished
A huge thank you to the Maple Ridge Lions Club, the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows School District and the 2023/2024 Albion Families for their donations that went towards our primary playground. At the end of August we had 4 decks replaced and on Wednesday the stairs were added so now all of our students are able to access the play structure.
Upcoming PAC BQ and Open House
On Thursday from 4-6 pm our PAC will be hosting a back to school BQ. There are free hot dogs and families are able to purchase chips and beverages. Classrooms will be open from 5-6 pm so families are able to meet your child’s 2024/2025 assigned teacher. If you are able to help out during please contact our PAC at albionelementarypac@gmail.com
Lost and Found
We are only finishing our 3rd week of school and our Lost and Found is almost full. Please stop on by and see if anything looks familiar.
Dirt Bikes/ATV’s
It has been brought to our attention that there have been some people riding motorized vehicles (dirt bikes and ATV’s) on school district property after school hours. Please know that this is NOT permitted and if neighbours see this occurring, please reach out to the local RCMP and give them the following file number RMN-18432.
Birthday Celebrations
We know that birthdays are special celebrations however we do need to ask families to not plan any birthday events during school hours (lunch for the class, goodie bags, balloons). Families must also be in contact with the classroom teacher PRIOR to bringing in any birthday treats eg. cupcakes. Please do not show up the day of with these items without having this prior conversation.
Student injuries occurring at school
The School District does not pay medical/dental costs arising from injury sustained by a student while on school grounds or while participating in school activities. Such costs are the responsibility of the parent or guardian. If needed, parents or guardians may purchase coverage from organizations that offer student accident programs. Examples of such vendors include Insure My Kids or Study Insured Student Accident.
New K to 12 Literacy Supports and Learning Disabilities Webpage
As part of the new provincial initiative that was announced earlier this year, the Ministry of Education and Child Care has launched a K-12 Literacy Supports web page. The web page offers information for school and district staff including a one-page information sheet to support communications with families about the K-12 Literacy Supports initiative, and links to BC Learning Pathways literacy and numeracy resources. You can also find a new “All About Early Literacy” brochure for parents and caregivers that includes strategies they can use to support learning at home, what to look for, and who to speak to if they have questions or need support (available in multiple languages).
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation- September 30th
In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation we invite all students to wear orange all next week. Below is information on a community event occurring at the Memorial Peace Park on Sunday, September 29.

As per the parent portal notice that was sent home this week:

Although these cards are enjoyable to collect the sharing and trading of them are causing several problems between students during recess and lunch. It is requested that these card not be brought to school. If they are being used at an afterschool program they must remain in your child’s backpack while at school.
Morning Games/Homework Club
We have started our games and extra help club. This club will run everyday out of the multi-purpose room (MPR) from 8:00-8:25 am. Interested students are to enter the MRP through the doors located in the under covered area.
