Cross Country
Congratulations to our Grade 1-3 students who participated in the district cross country meet this past Wednesday.
All the best to our Grade 4-7 students who will be running this Thursday at Alouette Lake.
GO ALL STARS!
Universal Lunch
The Universal Lunch program is now up and running on Tuesday and Thursday’s through “Simply Foods.” All information about the program can be found on the school website under the Parent Tab. If your child is going to be away and you have ordered lunch, we will need to request that you come by and pick it up at 12:00 pm for we do not have the refrigerator space to store it for the next day. Any unclaimed lunches will be donated to other students. Please also ensure when you are ordering for your child you put the correct division number. All division numbers can be found under the Staff tab on the website.
Any parents who are willing to help deliver lunches on Tuesday/Thursday please contact Mrs. Dailey at tanya_dailey@sd42.ca
Scare Hunger
A reminder that Albion Elementary is collecting cash and food donations for the Friends in Need Food bank up to October 31.
Lunch Time Volleyball
During lunch time many of our intermediate students have been participating in the Albion Intramural Volleyball league where each team is supported by one of our teachers. Check out the photos of Mrs. Matlock’s, Mr. Jung’s and Mrs. Dinsa’s team playing this past week.
Student Vote
Over the past few weeks our intermediate classes have had the opportunity to learn about the British Columbia provincial election, debate the future of the province, and cast ballots for the official local candidates running in their school’s electoral district. On Thursday our students were able to cast their vote.
Halloween Costumes
Halloween is just around the corner and we just want to remind families of a few important things:
Please ensure that you have read the Parent Portal notice regarding costume selection that was put out by the Superintendent of Schools Teresa Downs.
Each year we do have costumes worn that become damaged through the day or pieces are lost. Please do keep this mind if you are sending your child in an inflatable costume or a costume that has several pieces to it.
A friendly reminder that we do have students who are allergic to nuts. We ask that if students are bringing Halloween candy that they not only limit what they bring, but they save the treats with nuts in them for at home. Thank you ahead of time for your understanding and us working together in keeping all our students safe.
Albion Remembers
In part of our Remembrance Day observations this year, we are creating a display in our front entrance titled “Albion Remembers” to acknowledge members of our Albion Community who have served for their country. Students are invited to bring in photos of veteran family members for display in our front entrance. Please clearly label pictures with name/title of the family member in the image, when/where they served, student name and division. Please send in copies, not original photos. Photos will be accepted until Nov. 6th. Please send or bring copies of the photos to stephanie_downes@sd42.ca
This year’s Remembrance Day Assembly will occur on Friday, November 8th beginning at 10:45 am. Poppies will be given out to all students prior to the assembly. We do request that a donation for the Royal Canadian Legion is sent in with your child on this day.
Movie Night
Our PAC is hosting a movie night this Thursday. Doors open at 6:30 pm and The Nightmare Before Christmas will begin at 7:00 pm.
All students must be supervised by a parent- no drop offs are permitted.
Albion Pumpkin Patch
Once again our PAC is hosting the Albion Pumpkin patch. This year the PAC has generously purchased a pumpkin for each student. On Thursday after recess, classes will make their way outside to the back field where students will then select their own pumpkin to take home.
PAC Hot Lunch
November 1st is our 1st PAC Hot Lunch and it is Panago Pizza. Lunch orders are open on Munch-a-lunch. Hot lunch orders close October 24th.
Christmas Market
Head Lice
Over the past couple weeks we have had a few cases of head lice. We recommend that you check your child’s hair for the presence of head lice, by following the instructions in the Getting Rid of Head lice pamphlet on our school website: https://elementary.sd42.ca/albion/ under the Parent menu. If you detect head lice on your child, please follow either of the treatment options as described in the Head Lice Treatment pamphlet and notify the school.
Chemical treatments, hair conditioner and lice combs are available at most drugstores. It is important that you follow the directions carefully. Early detections and appropriate treatment will significantly reduce head lice in our school.
Your co-operation is very much appreciated.
Friendly Reminders
Our weather has definitely changed, please do ensure that you send your child to school with a jacket for we do have West Coast recess and lunch where, unless the weather is incumbent, all students are required to go outside.
If you are pulling into the “Kiss and Go” section of the school parking lot, please remember to pull as far ahead as you can as this will help eliminate the back up on 240th. A reminder to also please not leave your car unattended for the “Kiss and Go lane” is intended for a quick drop off. If your child needs assistance to get out of the vehicle we request that you park on a neighbouring street and walk them into the school yard. We appreciate everyone’s patience in the morning and understanding for we just want to ensure that everyone is kept safe.
