Dear families,
As we are now into May our calendar really begins to fill up! It is important for families to check the week at a glance at the end of this memo.
Some highlights from this past week are…
All students who are participating in the district Cross Country Event on May 16th (Intermediate Grades 4-7) and May 17th (Primary Grades K-3) have been practicing either through running club which has been offered on Mondays and Wednesdays after school or with their class, during the day. If you would like more information on this event, please be sure to speak to your child’s classroom teacher.
Our intermediates have continued to get ready for the school Track and Field event which will occur on Friday, May 26th.
Our intermediate talent show is coming up Friday, May 19th from 1-2 pm. This year we will have 17 students sharing their talents with us. Parents of the presenters are invited to attend this event.
Congratulations to Mrs. Holman’s class who won the Pizza lunch for the most funds raised for our Reading Challenge and to Mr. Tuplin’s class who won a special snack for the most minutes read.
Over the course of the week our weather is gradually going to get warmer. It is important that students begin to wear sunscreen and bring a hat and bring a water bottle to school as classroom teachers will be spending more time outside. Please do ensure that you take time to check our lost and found for items for as the mornings are cooler students often take their jackets off at recess and then unintentionally leave them outside when the bell rings to come in.
As we prepare our Fun Day that is scheduled for Friday, June 23rd this week we will be offering families the chance to pre-order Crispy Cream Donuts. On Monday, be sure to check your child’s back packs as orders need to be in by May 12th and delivery is May 18th. Don’t miss out!
A reminder that on Wednesday, May 10th we have a professional development day so there is no school for students.
Crispy Cream Donuts
Do you like donuts… well then this fundraiser is for you!
Help us raise some money for our year end Fun Day by treating your loved ones to melt in your mouth goodness. Boxes are unlimited and only $13.00 each. Order forms will be sent home Monday and need to be returned by Friday May 12. Donuts will be delivered May 18.
All proceeds will go directly to creating a memorable Fun Day experience for our students.
Class Placements
We are beginning to create our classes for next year. Please be assured that staff devote considerable time, care, and attention to this process. This very complex and lengthy responsibility occurs over several weeks and continues into September when class placements are finalized.
Throughout the year, there have been many opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss each child. Staff work together to consider the following criteria very carefully: social emotional skills and relationships, as well as learning styles, strengths, and needs. Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance these factors, as equitably as possible.
If you feel there is further information to consider about your child, you may submit input to Mrs. Dailey in writing by Friday, May 26, 2023. Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name.
