Weekly memo May 20-24, 2024

Terry Fox
Last week we celebrated raising over $5000.00 to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation.  A huge thank you to Ms. Holman for organizing this event.  The top 10 students who raised the most funds had the opportunity to spray silly sting at staff and because we raised over $5000 Mrs. Matlock, Mr. Sheridan and Mrs. Dailey participated in a bike race.  The video of the race can be viewed here Bike Race.

Class Placements
We are beginning to create our classes for next year. Please be assured that staff devote considerable time, care, and attention to this process. This very complex and lengthy responsibility occurs over several weeks and continues into September when class placements are finalized.
Throughout the year, there have been many opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss each child. Staff work together to consider the following criteria very carefully:  social emotional skills and relationships, as well as learning styles, strengths, and needs. Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance these factors, as equitably as possible.
If you feel there is further information to consider about your child, you may submit input to Mrs. Dailey in writing by Friday, June 14. Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name as these submissions will not be reviewed.

Ready, Set Kindergarten
Next Wednesday, May 29th we will be hosting our Ready, Set Kindergarten event for all 2024/2025 incoming Kindergarten students.  All incoming Kindergarten families have been sent a notice, via the Parent Portal, regarding the format of the afternoon.  A reminder that the 2023/2024 Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 11:00 on this day.

Parent’s Night Out- Playground Fundraiser
Tickets available through the office, don’t miss out!
Not only will you be helping with the playground initiative, but you will get a fun night out without kids, and will have an opportunity to participate in some fun games with prizes!

Spring Carnival- Game Volunteers needed
Our Spring Carnival is fast approaching on Thursday, June 6th from 4-8 pm.  Our PAC has put in a lot of work to plan this event and they really need your help.  For every 1 hour volunteer shift parents sign up for their child(ren) will be entered into a draw for 1 of 5 movie tickets.
