Weekly Memo May 19-23, 2025

May 20, 2025 By Robert Sheridan

As many families are aware, every spring the school district reviews all administrative assignments and it is with very mixed emotions we want to let families know that in August, Mr. Sheridan will be leaving Albion and will become the Vice Principal of Alexander Robinson Elementary.  Although we are sad to see Mr. Sheridan leave, we are excited for him as he further expands his administrative experience.  In August, Mrs. Nicole Von Krogh will begin her assignment as the Vice Principal of Albion.  Mrs. Von Krogh, is currently a teacher at Thomas Haney Secondary School and she will be joining the Albion staff with over 20 years of teaching experience.  Over the next 6 weeks she will be visiting Albion where she will begin to get to know to our fabulous school community.

Congratulations again to all of our students who represented Albion at the District Public Speaking competition last week.  Also, an additional congratulations to Yarhini, in Grade 4 whose speech ‘My Inspirational Hero’ awarded her an honourable mention.

Congratulations also to all our intermediate students who participated in the district cross country meet at Albion Sports Park this past Thursday.

Mental Health and Substance Use Language Guide for Families and School Communities

The ministry has partnered with BC Children’s Hospital to release a new resource for BC K‑12 families. The Language Matters! Understanding Mental Health and Substance Use: A Resource for Families and School Communities is a companion resource to the educator guide, designed to help parents, guardians and caregivers of school-age children (ages 5‑11) and youth (ages 12‑18) learn more about common language and concepts on mental health and substance use.
