Weekly Memo June 12-16

June 11, 2023 By Tanya Dailey

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend as I know many families are busy this time of year with weekend sports and dance recitals.  Although we only have 3 weeks left and our calendar remains super busy.  Please ensure that you take the time to read all notices sent by classroom teachers and those sent through the Parent Portal.

Congratulations to all the Grade 4-7 students who last week made it to the District High Jump finals that will be held at Meadow Ridge this week.  Also, all the best to all the intermediate student who will be participating in the intermediate track and field event on either Wednesday or Thursday at MRSS.

In recognition of Father’s Day, on Friday morning, from 7:30 am to 8:15 am, the PAC would like to invite Dad’s or Special Person to Albion for donuts and coffee/juice box.

Also on Friday, students from Divisions 1 and 3 will be hosting the Young Entrepreneur’s Fair.   The grade 6/7 students have worked hard to create products that they are going to be selling. Their products range in price from $0.25 to $5.00.

We are excited to announce our FUN Day plans for 2023!  Students will be participating in a rain or shine school wide event on our backfield, Friday Feb 23rd from 11:30 – 2:20.

Due to safety and security for our students, this is an Albion student ONLY event.  No spectators will be permitted.

Our PAC will be hosting lunch on this day. Lunch will be a hot dog and chips for $3.00 and additional hot dogs are $2.00 each.  Order forms will be sent home this week.

After lunch, our students will then head to the back of the school for a DJ hosted foam party, an inflatable slide and obstacle course as well as free play to celebrate another successful year.  This event is supervised by the entire Albion Staff.  A choice of cotton candy or snow cones will be available as a treat for our students.

We are very grateful to our PAC for helping to finance this day for our students.

Your child will need a hat, sunscreen, a water bottle with their name on it, and clothing that can get wet (bathing suits are not necessary or recommended for this activity).  We are air drying this day so our lost and found doesn’t overflow with towels!  You are welcome to bring one for your child at pick up.

A few reminders:
The lost and found is overflowing and on Friday, June 30th all unclaimed items will be donated to charity so please do take a minute to stop by and see if anything looks familiar.  We also have several reusable water bottles that are missing their owners.  These are on display at the front of the school.

Although there are only a few weeks left in the school year, I feel it is important to mention that there are several students who are arriving to school after the 8:30 am instructional bell.  A gentle reminder that instruction does begin at 8:30 am and when students arrive late, their entrance into the classroom interrupts the teacher and disrupts the learning of the other students.

Please do not hesitate to contact our school counsellor or me if there is anything more that we can do to assist with improving the situation. I assure you that we are willing to work together with you in addressing this concern.
