Well our PAC blew it out of the ball park in hosting an amazing carnival on Thursday night. A huge thank you to Keri Fletcher-Morash and to Leslie Maksymetz for their endless hours of organization. Also, thank you to all of our parent and student volunteers for the event could not have run without you.
In recognition of Bike to School Week, on Friday morning we hosted a bike parade. It was so much fun seeing how much work the students put into decorating their bikes. HUB Cycle has shared some great bike safety resources with us. These can be found here HUB Cycle Bike Resource.
A big shout out to our students in Div. 7-24 who participated in the Fabulous Feet dance program that sponsored by our PAC. An outstanding job was done by all as they showed off their skills Friday afternoon.
Front Doors
At the end of the day we can not always guarantee that there is someone alway in the office, therefore, to ensure the safety of our staff and the students who participate in after school programs our front doors will be locked at 2:4o each day.
We also can not permit the use of the bathroom after this time as our school custodian is busy in other areas of the school.
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found bin is seriously overflowing.
Please stop by and take a look to see if anything looks familiar. All unclaimed items will be donated to charity on Wednesday, June 25th.
IMPORTANT- Upcoming Field Trips
There are several upcoming field trips scheduled over these final 2 weeks. If your child is on the school lunch program or if you have ordered lunch for a Tuesday or Thursday, please know that if your child’s field trip is during lunch time you will need to pack a lunch for them.
If you have ordered lunch through Simply Foods for a Tuesday or Thursday and according to the calendar below your child is on a field trip please ensure you cancel the lunch. Lunches that are not canceled will not be saved as we just do not have the storage space for them. If you have any questions please reach out to either Mrs. Dailey or Kellie McNutt, our Childcare Worker.
Final Reminders
Input to Class Placements
We are beginning to create our classes for next year. Please be assured that staff devote considerable time, care, and attention to this process. This very complex and lengthy responsibility occurs over several weeks and continues into September when class placements are finalized.
Throughout the year, there have been many opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss each child. Staff work together to consider the following criteria very carefully: social emotional skills and relationships, as well as learning styles, strengths, and needs. Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance these factors, as equitably as possible.
If you feel there is further information to consider about your child, you may submit input to Mrs. Dailey in writing by Friday, June 14. Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name as these submissions will not be reviewed.
Upcoming Meeting
The next PAC Meeting Wednesday, June 12 6:30 pm (AGM Meeting)
IMPORTANT: Elementary June report cards will be on MyClass
BC Summer Games
The BC Summer Games is coming to Maple Ridge and volunteers are needed. Our school will also be used for athlete accommodations. If you are interested in volunteering, all volunteers must sign up through the BC Games Website: https://bcgames.org/volunteer/ and select the accommodations directorate as their placement. After online registration occurs, you will then be contacted and placed into specific jobs within the Accommodation’s Directorate.
