Wishing all of our intermediate students who are participating in the Albion Public Speaking competition on Monday all the best.
Federal Voting
A reminder that the parking lot will be extremely busy on Monday due to the Federal Election so ensure you give your self plenty of time. We will not be closing our gate after school however Mr. Sheridan and Mrs. Ryder will be outside directing traffic. It would be greatly appreciated if Albion families did not enter the parking lot at dismissal.
At lunch, all Albion students will run on the same eating time to ensure that there is an increase in supervision outside.
During school hours, all voters will be direct to enter through the gymnasium doors and will not be coming through the building as voters will need to follow the coned off pathways to the gymnasium.
Tim Horton’s Smile Cookies
Again this year, we will be helping Tim Horton’s sell their Smile cookies. Student’s wishing to purchase one need to bring the $2.00 to their classroom teachers by Wednesday, April 30. Classroom teachers will then keep a list of students who have ordered.
Cookies will be delivered at the end of the day on Friday, May 2nd.
All proceeds from this sale go to support Ridge Meadows Hospital.
Last Session of Kinderplay is this week!

District Information
Semester/Linear Public Consultation/Survey
The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) is engaging students, staff, and families in a district-wide consultation to help determine whether individual secondary schools should continue with a linear schedule or transition to a semester model. Decisions will be made on a school-by-school basis, with any approved changes taking effect in the 2026/27 school year.
Due to its Middle Years and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, Garibaldi must continue with a linear schedule. As a result, GSS staff, students, and families will complete a different survey focused on identifying the supports and structures that will continue to strengthen success within the existing model.
Surveys are open until May 2, 2025. To learn more and take the survey, visit: https://www.sd42.ca/secondary-scheduling-engagement/
Parent Resources
Vaping and Nicotine Pouch Resources
QuitNow is offering a recording of their recent webinar for parents, guardians and caregivers on supporting youth to quit vaping. The webinar provides an overview of vaping and how QuitNow can support families and youth through this difficult process. Additionally, a new information sheet on What to Know About Nicotine Pouches has been developed as a resource for parents, guardians, caregivers and educators
The School District does not pay medical/dental costs arising from injury sustained by a student while on school grounds or while participating in school activities (Administrators’ Handbook/Guide to SPP Coverage page 4). Such costs are the responsibility of the parent or guardian. If needed, parents or guardians may purchase coverage from organizations that offer student accident programs. Examples of such vendors include Insure My Kids or Study Insured Student Accident.
The following are options for families in need to consider:
- Dental Grant Program: It provides up to 30% coverage of dental fees with associated dentists.
- Healthy Kids Program: Children of low-income families can get help with the costs of basic dental, eyeglasses and hearing care.
- Maple Ridge Community Chest: Submitting an application could assist with dental costs.
