I hope everyone had a relaxing Easter weekend and spent time outside enjoying the amazing weather.
IntermediateTrack and Field
All intermediate classes will be starting track & field activities in gym this week and continuing through the month of April. Can you please ensure that all students in grades 4, 5, 6, & 7 have appropriate athletics footwear at school for these activities. Footwear to avoid include, but are not limited to: crocs, flip flips, slippers (Uggs and similar), hard soled boots, high heels, platform shoes, slides, sandals, etc.
Kelty Kind Mind Month
Starting on Monday April 20th our school will be participating in a Kind Mind Month program through The Kelty Foundation.
The K-7 program is designed to engage students, educators, and parents/caregivers in meaningful conversations about mental well-being, reduce stigma, and build resilience.
Starting the week of April 20th, each week, your child’s teacher will show a Kind Mind Video introducing a short challenge to do together at home. Complete the challenge with your child (reading aloud if needed) and sign the workbook. Practicing together helps your child bounce back from tough moments, make thoughtful choices, and share what they’ve learned. Each challenge takes less than 5 minutes, and completed challenges enter your child for a class prize!
On May 14th our school will celebrate the month of being kind to our mind by having a primary and an intermediate dance (during school time). These two Confi-DANCES will be hosted by DJ Beau of Rock’N’Beau
The dances are designed to create a sense of connection and belonging (a protective factor in mental health) to celebrate everything we have learned and reduce stigma. These are not typical school dance – they are a parties with a purpose.

The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District is looking for new host families to welcome international students into their homes.
Host families play an essential role in our International Program by providing students a safe and nurturing place to live while attending school in our district. In return, host families gain a truly rewarding experience of their own. By welcoming an international student into your home, your family has the opportunity to experience new cultures and traditions and build lasting relationships.
What do I need to provide as a host family?
- A private bedroom with a bed, desk, chair, closet and window
- Healthy meals and snacks
- Parental support and supervision
What support can I expect from the district?
Our homestay coordinators work closely with host families throughout the placement to provide support. Hosts receive a monthly stipend of $1,200 per student to help cover expenses, along with 24-hour emergency support when needed.
