HEALTH AWARENESS
We are continuing to practice Health Awareness this year for everyone entering our school – this includes staff, students, and visitors. Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to, COVID-19 symptoms) and staying home if ill.
PARENT PORTAL CONSENT FORMS
Please log in to the parent portal and complete all consent forms. Walking field trip permissions and various photo permissions are used by teachers throughout the year. We appreciate having these forms completed.
NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is tomorrow, September 30th. School will not be in session.
At MRE we acknowledged the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in a variety of ways including encouraging everyone to wear orange all week, teaching meaningful lessons in classrooms, creating school-wide collaborative artwork, and participating in a whole-school friendship circle. We thank everyone for their participation and the part they are playing in reconciliation.

Please see attached the fall calendar for the Family Education and Support Centre. There are many exciting programs and groups for all ages.
ATTENDANCE
If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing mre_reception@sd42.ca. If you know your child will be absent multiple days in a row you can enter them all at once so that you do not need to update it each day.

LOST AND FOUND
Please ask your child to check the lost and found! Consider writing your child’s name inside their belongings so that they can be returned if lost.

Our Morning Preschool Class 8:45 – 11am
Located at Maple Ridge Elementary
2 days/week (Tues & Thurs) = $100/month
3 days/week (M-W-F) =$125
5 Days/week =$200
+ $50 registration fee
There are also a few Out of School spots available at $500/month – this includes all pro d days, early dismissals, spring break and winter break

M.R.E. is excited to offer a free, recreational basketball program for students in grades 4 and 5. This is an opportunity for students to learn and practice skills in the M.R.E. gym on Fridays from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
We are looking for volunteers who have the skills and desire to coach. If you are able to help, please contact Nareen Atkins at nareenkaur85@gmail.com or Barb MacKinnon at bmackinnon@sd42.ca.
(Volunteers are required to complete a school district volunteer application.)

PAC Updates
The next PAC meeting will be taking place on Tuesday, October 11th at 7:00 pm in the school library. All parents and guardians of MRE students are members of the PAC and are welcome to attend the meetings. We hope to see you there!
