MORNING ROUTINES

Peer and teacher connections are the foundation of learning, and we start our days with this in mind. Students are asked to line up at their classroom doors, or designated spots, each morning and not come through the front doors of the building. In addition to the benefits of following class routines, the office is very busy in the mornings, and it is helpful to staff if the area is kept clear. Thank you for your support.

FAMILY SIGN IN

All student family members and guardians are asked to enter the school via the front doors and sign in at the office. All visitors are required to wear a red visitor’s pass at all times, even during brief visits. Please walk your student to their outside classroom door or designated meeting spot and avoid walking through the inside of the building. Your support is appreciated.

CONSENT FORMS

Consent forms are live on the Parent Portal. We ask that these be completed as soon as possible. Thank you!

MRE BREAKFAST CLUB

Did you know that we have a breakfast club at Maple Ridge Elementary? Daily from 8:00-8:30 am, students can drop in for a delicious breakfast. If you have any questions about the breakfast program, please contact Mme Lendvoy: Chelsea_lendvoy@sd42.ca

TERRY FOX RUN

Our Terry Fox run is next Friday (September 19th) from 1-2pm. Your generosity can help us reach our fundraising goal of $1000! We will be collecting cash and coin donations during the week of September 15-19 and you can also donate online at https://schools.terryfox.ca/MapleRidgeElementary.

On Friday September 19th there will be a short assembly in the gym after lunch followed by students completing their “run” and making as many laps as possible around the MRE back field. Families are welcome to attend and walk or run with their student!

Thank-you in advance for your support!

TRIPLE BALL

MRE Grade 6/7 Triple Ball is starting next week!

Participation includes:

  • One before-school practice (Tuesdays, 7:30–8:15 AM)
  • One after-school game per week, either at MRE or away at another school.

Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to away games.
The season will begin in late September and run until approximately early December.

If you’re interested in joining, please speak to Mme Kraakman, Mrs. Pajak, or Mrs. Halfnights as soon as possible to receive a permission slip.

No experience is necessary — everyone is welcome!

LEGO

A dedicated team of teachers is organizing class sets of Lego to support our school’s Applied Design Skills and Technology (ADST) program. These sets will support the hand-on learning of students at all grade levels. All donations of Lego are welcome and can be dropped off at the office. We are grateful for your help!

MEDICATION

We still have medications in the office that were not picked up in June. All medications need to be submitted to the office with the accompanying paperwork at the start of each school year. Please pop by the office to pick up old medications as we are unable to release them to students. Thank you

ATTENDANCE

If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing mre_reception@sd42.ca. If you know your child will be absent multiple days in a row you can enter them all at once so that you do not need to update it each day.

DROP OFF & PICK UP

The driveway at the front of the school is open in the morning for student drop off. This is the “kiss n’ go” option. Please pull over to the right (do not exit your vehicle) and allow your student(s) to exit your vehicle. If your student needs more time to say goodbye in the morning, or you need to exit your vehicle for any reason, utilize the “neighbourhood parking” option. Please avoid stopping to pick up your student(s) on River Rd. A photo of available local parking is attached for your convenience. Let’s work together to keep our children safe.

The driveway at the front of the school is closed to vehicles at the end of the day to prioritize student safety, except for buses and vehicles with an accessibility decal. Avoid stopping to pick up your student(s) on River Rd. Please do not park in either of the staff parking lots. Students are present in these areas after school and traffic needs to be limited for student safety reasons.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Supplies range from $50-$60 per student depending on whether their class is using planners or not. Families can pay on the Parent Portal, or they can bring cash or a cheque to their student’s teacher if they prefer.

LIBRARY NEWS

Many students have outstanding library balances (money owed) for either a lost or damaged book.  If a student tells us that the book was returned, they will be asked to find it in the library, if the book cannot be found, they will be asked to either pay for it or bring books in mint condition as a trade.
