REUSABLE WATER BOTTLES

Staying hydrated is important! We have a very limited supply of paper cups that are kept for ‘emergencies’. With the intention of limiting time spent out of the classroom refilling small cups, reducing waste, and avoiding slippery spills when cups are filled too high, families are encouraged to send their student(s) to school with a reusable water bottle. Thank you for your support!

CANADIAN PARENTS FOR FRENCH (CPF) MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

Canadian Parents for French is pleased to announce that the annual Fall Membership Drive is now open and will run from September 1 to October 31, 2025. Membership is FREE.

The success of this drive directly impacts the funding our school community receives, with each new membership helping to support French language programs and opportunities for students. We are especially grateful to CPF for their generous contributions toward French cultural presentations at our school.

How CPF Supports Families in French Immersion:

  • Provides resources, workshops, and tips for parents who may not speak French at home but want to support their child’s learning.
  • Sponsors cultural events, performances, and contests to help students experience the richness of French language and culture.
  • Creates opportunities for students to use French beyond the classroom, such as camps, exchanges, and fun activities.
  • Advocates at local and national levels to strengthen and expand French language education.
  • Builds a supportive community of parents, educators, and students who value bilingualism.

For more information, visit the CPF Facebook page: Canadian Parents for French Facebook

Additionally, Dites-le en vidéo is back! Submissions will be accepted from October 6 – November 9, 2025. This exciting contest gives students a chance to showcase their creativity in French. For more details, visit Dites-le en vidéo.

MESSAGE FROM MME ALLIETTE

Hi families!

I’m so excited to kick off the year teaching your kids Visual Arts! We’ve already had a great time creating together and getting ready for our Glow Gallery coming later this fall. Stay tuned for the date, it’s going to be magical!

This year, I had the students vote on the theme for the gallery, and the winner was… Under the sea!

My goal is not only to explore sea-themed art, but also to spark conversations about marine pollution and sustainability.

Instead of using all new materials, I’m encouraging students to get creative with things we usually toss or recycle. If you have any of the following items lying around at home, we’d love to turn them into art:

  • Bubble wrap
  • Empty plastic water bottles
  • Yogurt containers
  • Pasta jar lids
  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Packing peanuts
  • Toothpicks
  • Coffee filters
  • Tulle ribbon or sheer fabric
  • Old pool noodles
  • Disposable shower caps
  • Straws
  • Old or scratched CDs
  • Anything neon (ribbon, fabric, paper, etc.)

If you’re able to send anything in, feel free to drop it off at the front office or bring it directly to the stage area.

Thank you so much for your support in making this all possible! Your kids are going to create some truly amazing things, and we couldn’t do it without you!

MRE BREAKFAST CLUB

Did you know that we have a breakfast club at Maple Ridge Elementary? Daily from 8:00-8:30 am, students can drop in for a delicious breakfast. If you have any questions about the breakfast program, please contact Mme Lendvoy: Chelsea_lendvoy@sd42.ca

MORNING ROUTINES

Peer and teacher connections are the foundation of learning, and we start our days with this in mind. Students are asked to line up at their classroom doors, or designated spots, each morning and not come through the front doors of the building. In addition to the benefits of following class routines, the office is very busy in the mornings, and it is helpful to staff if the area is kept clear. Thank you for your support.

FAMILY SIGN IN

All student family members and guardians are asked to enter the school via the front doors and sign in at the office. All visitors are required to wear a red visitor’s pass at all times, even during brief visits. Please walk your student to their outside classroom door or designated meeting spot and avoid walking through the inside of the building. Your support is appreciated.

ATTENDANCE

If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing mre_reception@sd42.ca. If you know your child will be absent multiple days in a row you can enter them all at once so that you do not need to update it each day.

DROP OFF & PICK UP

The driveway at the front of the school is open in the morning for student drop off. This is the “kiss n’ go” option. Please pull over to the right (do not exit your vehicle) and allow your student(s) to exit your vehicle. If your student needs more time to say goodbye in the morning, or you need to exit your vehicle for any reason, utilize the “neighbourhood parking” option. Please avoid stopping to pick up your student(s) on River Rd. A photo of available local parking is attached for your convenience. Let’s work together to keep our children safe.

The driveway at the front of the school is closed to vehicles at the end of the day to prioritize student safety, except for buses and vehicles with an accessibility decal. Avoid stopping to pick up your student(s) on River Rd. Please do not park in either of the staff parking lots. Students are present in these areas after school and traffic needs to be limited for student safety reasons.
