HEALTH AWARENESS

Reminder: Health Awareness is for everyone entering our school – this includes staff, students, and visitors. Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to, COVID-19 symptoms) and staying home if ill.

 

USED SPIRIT WEAR WANTED!

Do you have spirit wear that your child has outgrown?  Please consider donating it back to the school.  In the spring we will be selling new spirit wear and re-selling used spirit wear at a discounted price.

 

BOOK FAIR – French (and English)

On February 6^th and 7^th there will be a French Book Fair taking place.  All classes can attend, and there will also be a good selection of English books available.

 

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

Jump Rope for Heart is the school FUNdraising event that nobody wants to skip. Students discover fun ways to get active, practice healthy habits and learn about helping others by raising money to help beat heart disease and stroke.

Stay tuned for details about the Jump Rope for Heart event that will take place at MRE on Feb. 24^th.

 

MRE SUN RUN TEAM

MRE invites you to join our school community Sun Run Team! This year’s run takes place on April 16^th.

The Sun Run mission is to be Canada’s leading and most influential 10k race, inspiring healthy, active lifestyles for people of all ages and at any fitness level in B.C.

Is your child currently in Grade 5 or 6 and interested in joining the elementary band program next year? If so, please check out the letters from the Westview Elementary Band teacher attached to this week’s Friday Blast.

 

COLIBRI FUNDRAISER

We are excited to be fundraising with Colibri again this year! Colibri is a Canadian company that makes a variety of cool reusable products such as snack bags, wet bags, drinking straws and wash cloths.  Your child will be coming home with a pamphlet and an order form soon!

CURIOUS MINDS PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION

Curious Minds Learning Centre has been serving the community since 2008!

PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION for the 2023/2024 school year will open February 2023.

Morning Preschool Class 9am – 1pm (located in the portable behind Maple Ridge Elementary)

• 2 days/week (Tues & Thurs) = $200/month
• 3 days/week (M-W-F) =$275/month
• 5 Days/week =$375/ month

+ $50 registration fee

MEADOWRIDGE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION

Registration for Spring Flag Football will soon be opening for children ages 8-18!

The season runs from April to June and teams practice twice per week from 6-8 pm.  Games happen every Saturday. The only gear required is a mouth guard.

Registration will begin February 1^st, 2023

 

Registration for Fall Tackle Football will also soon be opening for children ages 8-18!

The season runs from June-November.  Teams practice twice per week from 6-8 pm.  Games take place on Saturdays. The gear required are cleats (all other equipment is provided)

Tackle football registration begins on March 15^th, 2023

PAC UPDATES

PAC MEETING…

The next PAC meeting is on Monday, February 13 at 7:00 pm in the school library.  All parents and guardians of MRE students are members of the PAC and are welcome to attend the meetings.  We hope to see you there!

 

ANNUAL REVIEW

As part of our annual review, our PAC executives have reviewed the existing Constitution and Bylaws document and are sharing with the MRE community for review as well.  You will have received this document via the parent portal earlier this week.

Please let us know if there are any questions, comments or amendments.  In order to be considered, any proposed amendments will need to be received in writing via email at pac.mre@gmail.com no later than Jan 27th. If no amendments are brought forward by Jan 27th the existing Constitution and Bylaws document will be considered accepted as is, and will be moved forward with a vote during our Feb 13th meeting.
