Cougar Hoops– All grade 5 boys and girls interested in learning the FUNdamentals of basketball should come out Monday at 2:50pm. Coach McPherson (athletic director of SRT and Kanaka mom) is bringing some SRT senior basketball players to teach our grade 5 boys and girls the basics of the game. This week, they’ll meet on Monday at 2:50pm in our gym. After that, it’ll be Mondays from 2:50pm-4:00pm and Wednesdays from 2:30pm-4:00pm. Let’s Go Cougars!!
Grade 7 News – grade 7 students were shown sizes and colour options for hoodies, and we given order forms to take home. Hoodies are $26 and orders are due on October 26th. Sorry, no late orders can be taken.
Grade 6 Immunization Consent Forms– were sent home Friday. Please return to the school as soon as possible. Immunizations are November 28.
Our ME to WE team will be participating in the We Scare Hunger Program this month. We have already raised over 700 non-perishable food items so, as promised, our principal will be wearing a silly costume on Monday. Be sure to find him in the hallway or on the playground and keep bringing in your food items. After 1500 items, there’ll be another fun thing our principal will do. Your donations will be given to the Friends in Need Food Bank. This is an opportunity to help members of our community, as well as to raise an awareness about hunger. Please send non-perishable food items to the school with your children or drop them off at the office by October 31st. Thank you for supporting a great cause!
Hallowe’en Costumes– It’s that time of year again when many of us celebrate Hallowe’en. Please remember when wearing costumes at school they need to be appropriate for school. We have students from five years of age to twelve years of age learning at Kanaka and we want to ensure no one feels uncomfortable or afraid with the costumes we are wearing. Specifically, please don’t wear full face masks, gore or bring weapons to school. If you are unsure at all, please don’t hesitate to ask Mr. Raible or Ms. Fuhrmann.
Halloween Candy Collection– Once again Div. 4 (Mr. Moran) and Div. 14 (Mrs. Moran) are collecting candy donations for a few days right after Halloween. The candy donations will be repackaged and gifted out to seniors, the foodbank and to the Addiction Treatment Centre at Christmas. If every child brings in a handful, they probably won’t even know its missing, and they can help make someone’s Christmas special. Thank you to all in advance!
Photo Retake Day– if you were unhappy with your photos or absent October 1, here’s your chance! Monday morning only.
Lost and Found – Our lost and found is again overflowing with beautiful things. Please take a look (or make sure your child takes a look) for your lost items, as everything will be donated to charity before our Winter break.
