FEBRUARY IS ENERGY CHALLENGE MONTH.Kanaka Creek Elementary won last year’s Energy Challenge Month and we are determined to keep our title. The district is offering a trophy and $350 for a prize to the school who saves the most energy and promotes energy conservation over the month of February. Over a week at Kanaka Creek, we do Math Trivia Monday, Tupperware Tuesday, Water Bottle Wednesday, Don’t Throw It Out Thursday, Free the Plugs Friday, and Garbage Free Fridays. There are many activities that each class is taking part in and fun things are going on around the school throughout the month. Please help us win this challenge by packing your child’s lunches in reusable containers, encouraging them to reuse ziploc bags, and promoting energy conscious choices at home. Although this challenge is only on for the month of February, we want to continue to practice these good habits in the future. If you have any good ideas that could help us win this challenge, please let your child’s teacher know or email danielle_murphy@sd42.ca or jennifer_fuhrmann@sd42.ca.
