Dear Kanaka parents
I hope that you are enjoying a wonderful, safe summer.
Earlier today, superintendent Sylvia Russell sent out an update to families on school start up. This update was sent through the parent portal, but you can also find it by clicking here or on our school district or school website.
In her update, superintendent Russell included a list of existing district programs that can provide those families who need it some flexibility with respect to their child’s educational programming. If you are considering requesting a transfer of your child to one of these district programs, please contact me at 604-467-9050 or via email (chad_raible@sd42.ca) between August 24 and August 28 so that we can discuss your child’s needs. The provincial planning to re-open schools continues to evolve. With this in mind, I ask that before making a change of schools or programs, families contact me directly so that I can review the options that we may be able to develop at Kanaka Creek Elementary to assist families and determine next steps.
I will continue to be in touch in the weeks leading up to school start to provide you with additional school-specific information related to our start up, implemented health and safety protocols, cohort organization, and drop-off and pick-up routines.
We are busy doing all the necessary and important planning work and look forward to welcoming students back into our school starting September 10 and 11 for orientation on the implemented health and safety protocols and an introduction to their cohort.
