Dear Families Of Grade 7 Students,
I am writing to share with you an update to how the current conditions will affect the c̓əsqənelə’s Grade 7 leaving ceremony originally planned for this June.
There are two precautionary measures that provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has put in place to ensure the continued safety of British Columbians that have the greatest impact on Grade 7 leaving ceremonies and celebrations: the requirement for physical distancing, and significant limitations on the size of gatherings. As a result of these measures, we cannot welcome parents into the school, or hold a traditional end-of-year event.
Although I know this is a disappointment, we must continue to prioritize the health and safety of our students, families and staff. We would still like to find another safe way to honour and celebrate our Grade 7 students. With this in mind, we would like to invite the grade sevens to return one class at a time on Monday June 22nd. In these small groupings, we will share words of wisdom and some fun memories from the year, watch the grade 7 video together, present each student with their leaving certificate, and have an ice cream party. We will take pictures of your child receiving their certificate from their teacher and send it home with a link to the grade 7 video so you can watch together at home as well.
The schedule for Monday June 22nd is:
Mr. Lee’s class – 9-9:45am
Mr. Wickham’s class – 10:30-11:15am
Mrs. Bzowy’s class – 1-1:45pm
While we understand that our inability to hold a larger more public event may come as a disappointment this current pandemic has created a situation beyond our control. We are very proud of our Grade 7 students, and hope that they will all return on June 22nd, so we can wish them every success as they transition into high school!
Sincerely,
Mr. Wheatley, Mr. Lee, Mr. Wickham, Mrs. Bzowy
