Dear Families,
Our school team has worked extremely hard over many meetings to create the best class placements for all the children. There are many factors we take into account to create balanced classrooms throughout the school.
Your child will be placed in an excellent classroom situation but it may not always be with their closest peers. The reasons are that each grade group in our school has about 80 students. A typical class only has about 20% of these children at any grade level. We need to ensure that we mix classes somewhat each year to provide the children with an opportunity to work with a number of new friends. By the older grades students know all the children in their grade and those in the grades around them. These wider social connections help to build greater resilience and a wider social network over time.
Our plan is to move students to their new classrooms tomorrow morning. Students will start their day in their current class and then transition to new classrooms later in the morning. To make after school pick up easier this Friday we will return primary students to their current classroom. They will have information about the location of their new classroom. On Monday students should go directly to their new classrooms and staff will be outside the school to assist any parents needing additional directions.
Given the tremendous enrollment pressures at c’usqunela our school has a lengthy waitlist and all our classrooms are filled to their maximum legal limits. We do not have the ability to move between classes once class placements have been created.
Thanks. Mr. W.
Other Items to be aware of are:
- Classroom teachers will request school supply money in the coming days once the kids have settled into their new classrooms.
- Our September PAC Meeting is next Thursday (September 15th) – Everyone is welcome!
Our first PAC meeting of the year will be held on Thursday, September 15th, 7pm at the school.
Did you know that every parent is a member of the PAC and can vote at PAC meetings? All parents of c’usqunela students are welcome and encouraged to come to meetings.
Hope to see you there!
