Dear Families,
We had an amazing Terry Fox Run/Event last Friday with everyone having a ton of fun down at Albion Sports Park. A BIG thank you to all families who bought T-shirts and donations to support this very worthy cause. Terry’s message about never quitting connects very nicely with our school’s belief that we teach the kids about “the Power of YET”. We speak regularly with the kids about having a growth mindset. We talk about how no one is perfect and that we are ALL working to get smarter and better. When the kids come across something challenging we simply talk about how they just can’t do it YET.
Just a reminder to all families that this Friday September 30th is National Truth and Reconciliation Day and next Monday October 3rd is a Non-instructional Day. There is no school for students this Friday or next Monday. As a school, we are involved in a number of activities this week to teach the kids about this important information. As part of this weeks, activities you will see some visual messages of support around our school in the coming days. Please encourage your child(ren) to wear their orange shirts this Thursday to help us to visibly emphasize that every child matters.
Parking Lot Update – Thank you for everyone’s patience and care in the parking lot area to help keep it safe for the kids. Please continue to drive as far into the driveway and parking lot as possible when waiting. We ask that cars pull over to the right before picking up and dropping off for safety.
Sincerely,
Mr. Wheatley
