Dear Families,
Please take a few minutes to read the reminders and information below to ensure this week goes well for you and your kids!
- Just a reminder that all kids go directly to their new classrooms beginning Monday. We have big school so if anyone isn’t sure where a specific pod or classroom is located please do not hesitate to ask. We will again have staff at the front and rear of the school to assist both in the morning and afternoon.
- Our First PAC Meeting of this year is THIS Thursday September 16th on Zoom. The Zoom link and agenda were emailed out to parents on Sunday. If you did not receive the link and wish to join, please contact our school office and provide your name and email address so we can forward this to you. (604.466.6231 / cqe_reception@sd42.ca)
- Saleema Noon’s Body Science Workshops are coming to c’usqunela! The parent workshop is this Wednesday night and the student sessions are the following week on September 22nd & 23rd.
Our school has been very fortunate to book Saleema Noon for c’usqunela to provide body science workshops for all the students. Saleema is a very well known provincial expert on how best to talk to kids about their own bodies, puberty, and sexuality. She is in tremendously high demand and thanks to the PAC’s remarkable efforts we were able to book her for our school.
I have personally worked with Saleema five times in the past and believe her presentations are tremendously valuable for kids. As a principal, and a parent, I 100% recommend and support this PAC initiative! To give parents an idea of what is discussed with the kids, Saleema offers a Parent workshop before the school presentations. This workshop is also filled with ideas on how you can also talk with your kids at home about this important topic. More information about the Parent Workshop on Wednesday’s is below.
Body Science Boot Camp for Parents!
Parenthood never arrives with a rulebook, and when it comes to explaining the world of sexual health to your child, it can be hard not to end up a bright shade of red. Using humor and straight talk in an open, interactive environment, Saleema Noon Sexual Health Educators will show you how easy it is to convey healthy, positive messages about sexual health to kids.
In this workshop parents will learn:
- Why we need to talk to children about sexual health at a young age
- How to reduce risk of child sexual abuse
- What children should know at each stage of development, with specific examples of how to explain concepts and processes
- How to become their kids’ preferred source of sexual health information
- How to normalize open, honest sexual health conversations in their family
- How to effectively answer even the toughest questions kids ask
- What will be covered in Body Science workshops for students
- This workshop will be delivered via live Zoom! The link to come soon!
Join us!
When: Wednesday September 15th
Time: 6:30-8pm
