Dear Families,
It was great to see so many families out at our movie night in the gym last Thursday. It was super well attended and a terrific school community event! There is a lot going on this week so please review carefully the items below to help the week go well for your children.
- LAST chance to order School Spirit Wear. All orders are due THIS Wednesday October 26th!
Once again we are offering students and families the opportunity to purchase school spirit wear T-shirts and hoodies. Paper order forms were sent home with your child. Click here for another copy. Since all orders are unique and student specific we need to use paper forms and cash or cheque payment so we can organize and distribute the order in a timely and efficient manner.
- c’usqunela Pumpkin Patch 2022 – This Tuesday!
TOMORROW, Tuesday, October 25th, the school field will be transformed into a pumpkin patch! All students will have the opportunity to visit the pumpkin patch with their class throughout the day. Please send in $2 with your child if you haven’t already done so to help cover the pumpkin cost. Please also send your child with a plastic or reusable bag to transport their pumpkin home in, and ensure they dress for the weather, the pumpkin patch will run rain or shine.
- Please do not to send your child to school if they are sick
In recent days we have seen an increase in the number of children who are sick and coming down to the office needing to call and go home. Please remember that parents are still required to do the daily health checks with their children before sending them to school. As we enter the cold and flu season please help us to keep c’usqunela as healthy as possible. If any families require additional covid test kits we have extras in the office.
District X-Country Races are THIS Week!
If your child has signed up for the X-country races just a reminder that they are this week. The Intermediate race is after school on Tuesday at Alouette Lake and the Primary race is after school on Thursday at the Albion Sports Park. Information sheets regarding race start times have been sent home already with participating students. The races take place rain or shine. We will again have our c’usqunela canopies at the events so you can find our school gathering spot easily. Go Golden Eagles!!!
- School Parking Lot & Pick Up/Drop Off Routines
With the arrival of the rain and cooler weather we will now begin to see an increase in vehicle traffic during drop off and pick up times. To ensure that students can safely enter and exit the school property, and to allow traffic to move smoothly within the school driveway/parking lot, we ask families to observe the following routines:
- When dropping off and picking up please remember to drive as far down the main school driveway as possible before pulling over to the right side. When vehicles drive further into the driveway we are able to accommodate far more vehicles during peak times.
- Our driveway is equipped to accommodate two lanes of traffic. The right lane should be a “drop and go” space and the left lane should always be free to allow traffic to easily flow towards the exit.
- Please teach your children to use the school’s designated crosswalks to reduce the chances of an accident.
- Please do not park in the entrance and exit corners of the school’s main driveway. It is unsafe and prevents other vehicles from safely entering and exiting the school parking lot.
- Student Cell Phone Use During the Day
Many older students bring cell phones to school for safety and communication. While at school we ask students to put these devices away during the school day so they can focus on their learning and be socially engaged with their peers. Sometimes, we have students who are getting phone calls or texts from their parents that are expecting them to answer during the day. To help maintain an excellent learning environment for all students we ask that families limit their phone calls and texts to children. Please phone the school office if you need a message to your child during the school day. A full explanation of our school’s technology policy can be found in the student planner.
