Please review the important announcements below.
- Our Strong Start Program is now open for families with children 0-5 years old. It is open daily between 8:30-11:30am. We are happy to now be able to offer this valuable programming at c’usqunela for families with young children!
- Parking Lot & Traffic Safety:
A big thank you to all parents and families for your patience and caution entering and exiting our school’s parking lot each day. We currently have over 150 cars picking up and dropping off students each day so it is important that we continue to drive slowly and make safety the top priority. Our parking lot situation will get better over time as more safety lines/symbols are painted and the community center parking lot is completed.
Overall, our pick up and drop off routines are working well but to ensure widespread awareness we have listed our parking routines below. Please be sure to share these with anyone picking up or dropping off students to ensure maximum student safety.
- The main school driveway is always one way from the East entrance (top of the hill) downwards to the West entrance (nearest 240th). We will soon have arrows designating two traffic lanes down this driveway so parents can pull over in the right side to quickly pick up/drop off while allowing cars to continue to move carefully on the left.
- ALL parked cars must be in a designated parking stall. Cars cannot be left unattended unless in a designated stall. In the main parking lot area traffic may drive in either direction. Parents may wait with their vehicles in this parking lot area if all stalls are full.
- Please help us to teach the students to use the designated walkways and crosswalks to safely leave the school property. We will soon be adding an additional painted crosswalk at the lower west end of the parking lot for families exiting the school from this direction.
- Drive as far into the parking lot as possible before pulling over to the right to drop off students. This allows for more cars to safely use the parking lot at any one time.
- Please do not stop, or park, at the top of the parking lot driveway (near the library). Cars that stop here create an unsafe situation as other vehicles have difficulty safely entering the parking lot. Yellow curb paint and reminders will be painted soon.
- Parking stalls directly in front of the school library and office are for daycare vans and drivers with limited mobility. There are signs here already and additional reminders will be painted on the driveway soon.
Lastly, to accommodate construction requirements for the new Community Centre the school’s main EAST entrance (top of the hill) is only open for school traffic during “peak” pick up and drop off times. This main entrance (top of hill) is ONLY open for vehicle traffic between 8-9am & 2-3pm and will be closed 9am -2pm. At other times school vehicles should use the lower west entrance, at the bottom of the hill, as the school’s main entrance and exit.
