Dear Families,
Please review the items below to help us make sure things go smoothly for the kids in the coming days. All of our Portal Announcements are also posted on our school website if you every need to double check any school updates.
- Just a reminder that there is no school for students THIS Wednesday or Thursday (November 11 & 12) due to Remembrance Day and a District Non-Instructional Day. We will still be hosting a virtual Remembrance Day Assembly Tuesday morning, and some teaching within classrooms, to acknowledge the importance of this day.
- Term One Reporting Update – This term, the current COVID situation prevents parents and staff from meeting in person at the school to discuss individual student progress. The District has asked schools to use Zoom as a temporary measure this term to ensure important conversations about how we can best work together to support student learning continue. Our school conferences will proceed on December 3rd and 4th using Zoom. These conferences will be 10-15 minutes in length and teachers will begin to send out classroom specific information home beginning next week.
- Coming Up next week…. Student Photo retakes will be on the morning of Monday November 16th for any children who were away, or require a retake, from the first photo days.
- Lastly, with this weekend’s changing community Covid rules it seems like a good time to remind families to remember the following around the school. When walking (or waiting) with students around the school building we ask that parents pay attention to the following:
- As much as possible, all adults on school property should practice social distancing and maintain a good physical spacing.
- Remind your children (as needed) that the rule for them when waiting and playing outside is hands off (not social distancing).
- To reduce congestion around the school consider dropping older children off by their POD doors and leaving instead of waiting. We have supervision each morning at the front and rear of the school and will take good care of the kids.
As a school community I feel we have navigated our collective health and safety routines well over the first two months. To ensure that c’usqunela remains a safe learning space for the kids please continue to do the daily health checks with your children and keep them home if they are not feeling well.
Sincerely,
Mr. Wheatley
