Dear Families,
I hope this update finds everyone healthy and having had some fun in a “social distance” manner this weekend!
I wanted to send a quick school update before this week to share our school’s next steps with the provincial governments Friday announcement that schools will be re-opening beginning June 1st. All the details around how this might look in Maple Ridge are not finalized but families will have the choice of bringing their children back to class on a part-time basis in the following manner:
- Kindergarten to Grade 5: in-class learning 2 to 3 days per week, supplemented with remote instruction.
- Grades 6 to 12: in-class learning 1 day a week, supplemented with remote instruction.
Families have the choice to remain with the current online learning format but there will likely be less online “Zoom” interactions as teachers begin to teach in classrooms again. The goal is to return to full-time classes in September 2020, provided it is safe to do so. There was a district announcement sent out Friday with some more specific information and a survey to determine families plans. The survey, which you can find at https://letstalksd42.ca/voluntary-return-to-school-survey, CLOSES at 4 pm on May 20, 2020.
As a school, we will be doing a lot of detailed planning in the coming days, to develop a plan to bring students back to school in the safest manner possible. Health and safety will be our school’s first priority when the children return and I will share more details in the coming days so that families are comfortable with what to expect if you choose to send your children back.
Lastly, as a staff, we have tried to be creative and offer a range of interesting online opportunities. Below is a link to a really cool museum challenge art project that many students participated in. This Museum Challenge is well worth a look!!!! Well done everyone! Here is a link with all the submissions:

Lastly, please help us to begin to get the library organized again by bringing back any library books that you have at home either Tuesday or Wednesday THIS week. We will have a drop off bin at the school’s front entrance for books to be dropped off each afternoon.
Thank you for everyone’s ongoing support!
Mr.W.
