Dear Families,
Happy New Year to everyone! To help us make sure things go smoothly for the kids this month please take a few minutes to review the items below. All of our Portal Announcements are also posted on our school website if you every need to double check any school updates.
- Traffic Safety Update – Thank you to all drivers who are continuing as far down the school’s main driveway as possible before pulling over to drop off and pick up students. It is allowing us to get many more vehicles through the school driveway in a safe and timely manner. We ask that all drivers continue to drive slowly and exercise caution when dropping off or picking up to keep the students as safe as possible in this congested area.
We would like to ask that parents walking their children across the main driveway please make a point of using the school’s two designated crosswalks. While this may not always be the most direct route, it is important for us all to collectively teach the kids good traffic safety habits, to reduce the risk of a serious accident.
- Health & Safety Reminders
Thank you for everyone’s continuing diligence in following our school’s Health and Safety Routines. We ask that families continue to carefully monitor their child(ren)’s health each morning. Please only send your child(ren) to school if they are feeling healthy as any children with cold or flu symptoms cannot be in classrooms in our current context.
To help ensure we continue to manage this current context well we are also asking all families to please remember the following when walking (or waiting) with students around the school building:
- As much as possible, all adults on school property should practice social distancing and maintain a good physical spacing.
- Remind your children (as needed) that the rule for them when waiting and playing outside is hands off (not social distancing).
- To reduce congestion around the school consider dropping older children off by their POD doors and leaving instead of waiting. We have supervision each morning at the front and rear of the school and will take good care of the kids.
- Please help your child plan for our West Coast Recess & Lunch Play Times. With the winter weather here please help your child(ren) to remember their jackets and outdoor clothing each day. It is not healthy for kids to be cooped up in their classrooms all day so as much as possible we try to get the kids outside for their recess and lunch play times. Placing a change of clothes at the bottom of younger students’ backpacks is always helpful on those days they might slip or get wet.
- Kindergarten Registration is coming up soon! Please spread the word to anyone you know in our catchment area with a child entering kindergarten that registration begins online with the sibling registration phase beginning tomorrow January 6th followed by the General registration phase beginning on February 3rd.
Our school will again likely have more kindergarten registrations than spots so please register early.
