Dear Families,
Happy almost the end of January!!! It is amazing how quickly the weeks are flying by. We have a lot going on at c̓əsqənelə these days with four intermediate basketball teams, a professional singer working with several classes to create original songs, and a number of other initiatives! We are also looking forward to performing our school’s first school wide Fine Arts performance at the end of April. It is really nice to see the many great opportunities now happening for the kids both within and beyond the classrooms!
Below are just a few quick updates to help the next week go well.
- A big thank you to all the families who attended the PAC’s first school movie night last week. It was a wonderful night with over a 100 kids participating! The PAC also generously donated all pizza monies raised to support our Leadership Students’ fundraise money to help fight the Australian Wild Fires. There will be a couple of other activities organized by our leadership students coming out next week to help Australia’s animals and communities suffering with the wild fires.
- Family Reading Time is now available in the library every morning beginning at 8:10am! Parents of primary students are now welcome to come inside and read with your child(ren) each morning beginning at 8:10am. Our hope is that this will help make a more relaxed start to the day for some families. We have a cart full of books for children to choose from and lots of comfortable places to read. Please note, that parents of primary students are expected to remain with their children during this time. We do not have additional staffing for general supervision before or after school.
The POD areas, and other school spaces, remain closed to allow staff to properly set up materials and lessons. We ask that students and families wanting to come in early to read use our main front school entrance.
- Traffic Safety Update – Thank you to all drivers who are continuing as far down the school’s main driveway as possible before pulling over to drop off and pick up students. It is allowing us to get many more vehicles through the school driveway in a safe and timely manner.
We would like to ask that parents walking their children across the main driveway please make a point of using the school’s two designated crosswalks. While this may not always be the most direct route, it is important for us all to collectively teach the kids good traffic safety habits, to reduce the risk of a serious accident.
Thanks! Mr. W
