Dear Families,
Students and staff have been hard at work this term and we are now approaching our term one conference days where we get to celebrate successes and discuss student goals for next term.
This year when you sign up for conferences the District booking system also has an “on line” option. We ask that families ONLY select this “on line” option if there is no way for them to come in for an in person conference. “In Person” conferencing is far more powerful and effective for student learning than an online video conference.
The power of the student inclusive reporting conference comes from the student, teacher, and parents sitting together to review the child’s portfolio and discussing progress together. Compared to an “in person” conference, the online conferencing, does not provide the same opportunity for conversation, review of materials, and progress. We strongly encourage families to come into the school for a conference rather than request the on line option. We really want to see parents in person at the school to talk about, and celebrate, your child’s progress and successes together. If an on-line conference must be scheduled please contact your child’s teacher for information on what day those would occur.
We have an early dismissal on Thursday December 1st (11:30am) and a full day on Friday December 2nd to meet with parents and students and many conferences also occur in the days around these dates.
