- Term 2 Student Inclusive Conference Information
Students and staff have been hard at work again this term and we are now approaching our term two conference days where we get to celebrate successes and discuss student goals for next term.
This year when you sign up for conferences the District booking system also has an “on line” option. We ask that families ONLY select this “on line” option if there is no way for them to come in for an in person conference. In addition, we ask that families selecting this option confirm with their child’s teacher if that day/time is available for an online option, as teachers are planning for a primarily “in person” student inclusive conference format. “In Person” conferencing is far more powerful and effective for student learning than an online video conference.
The power of the student inclusive reporting conference comes from the student, teacher, and parents sitting together to review the child’s portfolio and discussing progress together. Compared to an “in person” conference, the online conferencing, does not provide the same opportunity for conversation and review of materials and progress. We strongly encourage families to come into the school for a conference rather than request the on line option. We really want to see parents in person at the school to talk about, and celebrate, your child’s progress and successes together.
Mr. Wheatley
