Body Science

October 22 - October 23

Saleema Noon’s Body Science Workshops are coming to c’usqunela. The parent workshop is on Oct. 21st at 6:30pm via ZOOM and the student sessions are the following days on Oct. 22nd and 23rd

Our school will have Saleema Noon provide body science workshops for grade 1 to grade 7 students at c’usqunela this year. Saleema is a well-known provincial expert on how best to talk to kids about their own bodies, puberty, and sexuality.

To give parents an idea of what is discussed with the kids, Saleema offers a Parent workshop before the school presentations. This workshop is also filled with ideas on how you can talk with your kids at home about this important topic. More information about the Parent Workshop on Oct. 21st is below and there is also a link explaining a little bit more about the student sessions.

Please note that our kindergarten students will not be participating in the presentations this year.

If upon discussion with your family, you choose to opt out of these presentations, you may choose to have your child attend another class during this time or stay home during their presentation time.  If so, please let your child’s classroom teacher know and note that you will be responsible for this portion of the provincial curriculum.

Body Science Boot Camp for Parents – Saleema Noon – Oct. 21st

Parenthood never arrives with a rulebook, and when it comes to explaining the world of sexual health to your child, it can be hard not to end up a bright shade of red. Using humor and straight talk in an open, interactive environment, Saleema Noon Sexual Health Educators will show you how easy it is to convey healthy, positive messages about sexual health to kids.

In this workshop parents will learn:

  • Why we need to talk to children about sexual health at a young age
  • How to reduce risk of child sexual abuse
  • What children should know at each stage of development, with specific examples of how to explain concepts and processes
  • How to become their kids’ preferred source of sexual health information
  • How to normalize open, honest sexual health conversations in their family
  • How to effectively answer even the toughest questions kids ask
  • What will be covered in Body Science workshops for students
  • This workshop will be delivered via live Zoom. The link is below.
