Dear Families,
Despite the COVID complexities… I hope everyone still managed to have a fun and restful summer with your families! I have been holding off sending start up messages until we had further direction for the province and District around what this year will look like in schools. Thank you for your patience and flexibility!
From information received this week, it looks like we have taken some very positive steps towards normalizing many of school routines and activities which will be great for the kids! Please take the time to read the District update from the Superintendent sent yesterday as this outlines a number of key health and safety routines. I will send out additional school specific start up information on Monday. A couple of timely reminders I wanted to share before Monday to help answer questions are:
The start time for students on the first day of school (September 7th) has now been adjusted to accommodate training/orientation for staff on the updated Provincial COVID-19 Guidelines for K-12 School Settings. Students will now attend on September 7 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:25 p.m. Regular daily attendance (8:30 a.m. to 2:25 p.m.) will start on September 8.
Families do not need to purchase school supplies for your children again this year. The students’ bulk school supplies order has arrived at the school and is being organized by teaching staff this week. When the children are settled into their new classrooms we will request the $55 payment families send in payment for these school supplies. We will send out additional information once children are settled into their classrooms. Teaching staff will again be organizing these student supplies in a manner that ensures children are not sharing them.
For families with children entering kindergarten…. Our gradual entry kindergarten plan remains the same as it was in June. The new altered week one start for children in grades 1-7 does not impact our kindergarten gradual entry plan.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone again soon!
Mr. W.
