Thank you to our PAC for hosting a fun movie night this past Friday evening. This coming weekend on Saturday, November 4th from 11-3 pm the PAC will be hosting a Christmas Market at the school. This is a great opportunity for families to get a jump start on their Christmas shopping as there will be over 40 venders.
A reminder that as part of our Remembrance Day observations, we would like to acknowledge members of our Albion community who have served for their country. Students are invited to bring in photos of veteran family members for display in our front entrance. Please clearly label pictures with the name name/title of the family member in the image, when/where they served, student name and division. Please send in copies, not original photos. Pictures will be accepted until November 6th.
Images can be email or brought to Ms Downes. (Stephanie_Downes@sd42.ca) or Mr. Thompson (Paul_Thompson@sd42.ca)
Halloween Events
A huge thank you to our PAC for subsidizing the Albion Pumpkin Patch on Friday. Great fun was had by all! If you have not had a chance to send in the $2.00 for your child’s pumpkin, please remember to do so by Tuesday.
We will be having a school wide costume parade on Tuesday in our gym. In that this will be a school wide event, we will not be able to have parents attend as there is just not enough space in gym.
A reminder to all families about the important Parent Portal message sent by SD#42 Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Dhillion, regarding a Safe and Inclusive Halloween.
A friendly reminder that we have students who are allergic to nuts. We ask that if students are bringing Halloween candy that they not only limit what they bring, but they save the treats with nuts in them for at home. Thank you ahead of time for your understanding and us working together in keeping all our students safe.
Student Inclusive Conferencing
Albion Elementary follows the student led conferencing model. This model of reporting involves the classroom teacher, the parent(s)/guardians, and the child having an in-depth, meaningful conversation about the child’s learning. If you have not had a chance to visit the district website and learn about our student inclusive reporting, please do so at www.sd42.ca and click the PARENTS tab and then go to Reporting and Assessment. Here you will find that there are questions and answers, videos, report/conference templates and other reporting information.
Our 1st Term conferencing will be occurring on December 7th and 8th.
School District No. 42 will be offering parents a choice for student inclusive conferences this year. The formal term 1 and 2 conferences will be offered as either in person or virtual to allow families the choice that works best for them. To help our teachers prepare for the organization of conferencing schedules, please contact your child’s teacher if you would like to meet with them virtual.
More information regarding the conferences will be sent out by your child’s classroom teacher in next couple weeks.
