TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION
In recognition of The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30 MRE staff and students will be participating in many activities including storytelling, creating personal land acknowledgements, singing, and drumming. We have had the privilege of learning new songs with an Indigenous member of our community. Families are invited to join us at MRE at 2:00 p.m. on Friday on the backfield to help us create a circle of friendship. The students will exit from the gym and together with staff and families will form a circle around our school. The circle is intended to be a visual representation of our belief that every child matters and our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. The students will be singing The Algonquin Water Song, which has been gifted to us.
HEALTH AWARENESS
We are continuing to practice Health Awareness this year for everyone entering our school – this includes staff, students, and visitors. Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to, COVID-19 symptoms) and staying home when sick.
ATTENDANCE
If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing mre_reception@sd42.ca. If you know your child will be absent multiple days in a row you can enter them all at once so that you do not need to update it each day.
