WEEK AT A GLANCE
Classes were in full swing this week as students and teachers established routines and engaged with community-building games and activities.
HEALTH AWARENESS
We are continuing to practice Health Awareness this year for everyone entering our school – this includes staff, students, and visitors. Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to, COVID-19 symptoms) and staying home when sick.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
If you are still needing to purchase your student’s school supplies, there are various options:
Kindergarten – Grade 3
Supplies are bulk-ordered by the classroom teacher. There is a flat fee which covers all art and school supplies for the year. This includes the cost of a planner (agenda):
Kindergarten: $55.00
Grade 1 – 3:
$50.00 (no planner) or $60.00 (planner)
Some classes do not require planners. Please check with your student’s teacher before making a payment on the portal.
There was a message on the Parent Portal posted this week with information about paying for your student’s supplies.
Grade 4-7
Students have the option to pre-order from Creative Packs or purchase their own supplies. If you have not yet purchased your grade 4-7 child’s school supplies, you may purchase items on your own. Please use the following link to access lists: https://elementary.sd42.ca/mapleridge/school-supplies/
Students who pre-ordered supplies in June have had their supplies delivered to their classrooms.
Some intermediate classes will be using planners. The cost is $10 and you will be notified if your child needs one.
Please contact the office to discuss financial support options.
ATTENDANCE
If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing mre_reception@sd42.ca. If you know your child will be absent multiple days in a row you can enter them all at once so that you do not need to update it each day.
CONSENT FORMS
All consent forms, including the walking field trip form, are now live on the portal. Please complete these forms at your earliest convenience.

FOUNDRY NEWS
The Foundry provides mental health care, substance use services, physical and sexual health care, youth and family peer supports, and social services to youth aged 12-24 years of age. It provides drop-in counselling as well as various social events that your child can attend. This is a great way to build positive connections with others within the Maple Ridge community.
DID YOU KNOW?
Ms. Cora is our Child Care Worker at MRE. Here is some information about what she does for our school community!
Child Care Worker/Youth Care Worker
Social-emotional growth is an essential component of healthy development in children. As part of this learning in schools, Maple Ridge Elementary provides students with an opportunity to work with our Child Care Worker (CCW) in the classroom, in small groups and/or individually for check-in.
CCW’s provide opportunities to strengthen friendship skills; develop coping and regulation strategies; enhance effective communication; and boost self-esteem/self-image. Care is taken to ensure support is offered at the least disruptive time for learning.
Please reach out to Mme Lendvoy or Mme Perry should you have any questions.
Healing Journey Continues Through Truth and Reconciliation
Memorial Peace Park Maple Ridge, Sept. 30th from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm.
The focus of this year’s event is “Healing Through Drumming”. Activities include performances by Indigenous drum groups and performers, special guest speakers, a variety of onsite vendors, orange shirt painting, the creation of a community art project, supporting drum circles, sharing information about supports in the community and creating a safe place for those impacted by the residential school system to come together and share and witness through stories.
