GOOD NEIGHBOURS
As we continue to foster a warm and welcoming community, it is important to reflect on the values that make our neighbourhood a wonderful place. Respecting our neighbours and their property goes a long way in creating a harmonious and safe environment for everyone. Here are a few reminders of how we can all contribute to being respectful members of our community:
- Keep shared space clean: from sidewalks to neighbours’ front yards, to parks, let’s make an effort to keep shared spaces clean and tidy. Dispose of your trash and pick up after your pets.
- Respect private property: it is important to respect the boundaries of private property. Please avoid going into neighbours’ yards without permission and refrain from parking in front of driveways or blocking access to garages.
- Communicate with kindness: if there are any concerns or issues within the neighbourhood, communication is key. Approach discussions with kindness and understanding.
Remember, at MRE kindness and respect matter every day.

CLASS PLACEMENTS – NEXT YEAR (Sept. 2024)
We are beginning to create our classes for next year. Please be assured that staff devote considerable time, care and attention to this process. This very complex and lengthy responsibility occurs over several weeks and continues into September when class placements are finalized.
Throughout the year, there have been many opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss each child. Staff work together to consider the following criteria very carefully: social-emotional skills and relationships, as well as learning styles, strengths and needs. Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance these factors, as equitably as possible.
If you feel there is further information to consider about your child, you may submit input to the principal in writing by May 31, 2023. Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name. You can email: chelsea_lendvoy@sd42.ca
YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS FAIR
Mrs. Pajak’s and Mme Sweetnam’s classes would like to extend a huge thank you to the MRE community for supporting our Young Entrepreneur Fair last week. With your help we were able to raise a total of $330.50 that will be donated to Katie’s Place animal shelter. Thank you to the parents, staff and students who made this event a success.

GRADE 7 LEAVING COMMITTEE FUNDRAISING
Did you know that you can continue contributing to the Grade 7 Leaving Event by donating your cans and bottles? The Maple Ridge Bottle Depot has an account under the number: 604-467-5551. When you donate just mention you’d like the funds to go to this account. The Grade 7s thank you in advance for helping to make their Leaving Event an awesome day!
If you would like to support our Grade 7 leaving celebration an account is up and running at the Maple Ridge Liquor Store at the corner of 207 and Lougheed. Patrons just must mention MRE grad, and a portion of your purchase will be donated back to the school and used for the Grade 7 Leaving Event. Thank you!
HEALTH AWARENESS
We are continuing to practice Health Awareness this year for everyone entering our school – this includes staff, students, and visitors. Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to, COVID-19 symptoms) and staying home when sick.
ATTENDANCE
If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing mre_reception@sd42.ca. If you know your child will be absent multiple days in a row you can enter them all at once so that you do not need to update it each day.
