FRENCH CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Maple Ridge Elementary is excited to welcome two French cultural events next week. As a French Immersion school, it is important to us to learn about French culture from all over the world. Both French Immersion and English students will participate in these activities.
The first presentation is by a group called V’ni Dansi. V’ni Dansi means “come and dance” in Michif, a language spoken by some Métis peoples. The group will perform joyful traditional Metis songs and dances.
The second presentation will be from “The Maple Man” who will teach students about the history of maple syrup harvesting. Students will have the opportunity to taste a “tire de sucre” – a Quebecois winter tradition that involves pouring hot maple syrup over snow (ice) and rolling it into a candy to eat!
